Mark Lemon joined Newcastle mid-way through the 2009 season following a shock drop from Newport.
had a bit of a stuttering start to his UK career, racing for Poole in 1990 and 1991 and for Middlesbrough in 1992, but Swindon applied for a work permit to sign him in three successive years (1993-95), but they were refused the necessary paperwork on each occasion.
The rider finally earned a work permit after finishing sixth in the 1996 Australian Final, coming back to join Oxford whilst the Australian He was the mainstay for Reading in 2007, despite being hampered by a nasal problem for much of the season, which required corrective surgery in September that season.
In 2008, he was named as Poole's number eight rider in a late season switch in place of Jordan Frampton, but, in the event, he wasn't called into action by the Dorset side.
He’s joined Newport last season until inexplicably their axe fell upon his neck leaving him unbelievably available which played into Newcastle’s habds perfectly, and the rest, as they have a tendency to say, is history.
He won the Victoria State Championship in 1993 and 1996 and is the son-in-law of the great Diamonds’ legend, Tom Owen.
