NEWCASTLE DIAMONDS v EDINBURGH MONARCHS
Sun 14 Sep 2008
| Newcastle fought hard against an Edinburgh on a difficult track and against a team who owned a reserve, Matthew Wethers, who rode one of the most impressive matches by a visiting rider seen at the Newcastle track in half a century with a superb seven-ride full 21-point maximum, with points won in the most spectacular style tight on the inside white line. |

Sun 14 Sep 2008
| In the second half of a very late-run double header which finished almost 5 hours after the start time of 5.30, following a re-run Heat 12 before the inevitable abandonment with the result standing, the Rye House Rockets continued exactly where Edinburgh left off and ended up even more dominant leading 8-10 within the opening three races. |
